ABOUT AVOA

ALBERTA VLT OPERATORS ASSOCIATION

AVOA (Alberta VLT Operators Association) is a non-profit Association that represents VLT Operators all across Alberta.

What sets AVOA apart from most member-based associations, is that we do not believe in letting the Board of Directors make all the decisions.

We believe in conducting polls and surveys with our members, and after tabling important issues, we believe in hosting plebiscites, (where the entire membership gets to vote on the solution that they feel is best for the Association and its members as a whole), and we are committed to finding our way forward by following what the majority of the members vote to do.

In some cases each member gets one vote in a plebiscite, and in other cases each member gets one vote for every machine that they own, (depending on the scope of what is being voted on).

AVOA is a truly democratic association that gets all the members involved in the decision making process.

AVOA, first and foremost, is committed to offering “CAPTIVE INSURANCE”  to all VLT operators.

A “captive insurer” is generally defined as an insurance company that is wholly owned and controlled by its insureds; its primary purpose is to insure the risks of its owners, and its insureds benefit from the captive insurer’s underwriting profits.

The captive insurance program we are working on is designed so that the insurer provides annual rebate incentives for VLT Operators, (that do not submit any insurance claims).

The rebates that each VLT Operator receives is prorated (based on each individuals premiums, as well as their claim history), and the annual rebate is credited towards future insurance premiums, for that particular VLT operator.

The purpose of this captive insurance is to provide the most cost effective insurance premiums for Alberta VLT Operators.

The association is newly formed and is committed to representing VLT Operators in every way possible, and all members are encouraged to submit their suggestions on how we can improve that representation, in the future.
